Madison Cheeatow – Ruby Skye

Sixteen-year old Madison Cheeatow is a student at a Toronto performance arts school. Her love for performing started at an early age with various school stage plays and local musical productions.

Madison is thrilled to be a part of Ruby Skye P.I., and to be working with a spectacular group of very creative people. This will be her first on-screen role, — and the process has been incredible so far!

Marlee Maslove – Hailey Skye

Thirteen-year old Marlee Maslove loves singing, dancing, acting and dogs. When she’s not online, Marlee is on stage, often at the Randolph Academy where she was a member of the Randolph Young Company for four years, performing in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Schoolhouse Rock, Free to Be You and Me and most recently in Really Rosie as Rosie’s mother. Although the Young Company is no more, Marlee recently joined the Randolph Glee Choir and is looking forward to singing and dancing in new venues with old friends. Marlee’s character Hailey Skye has her own web series, Hailey Hacks, in which she shows you cool things you can do with your computer. Marlee is a grade 8 student at an alternative school in downtown Toronto and a big fan of all things Harry Potter. She has two cats, Choas and Poopsie, but no dog.

Kevin Gutierrez – Griffin Lane

Fourteen-year old Kevin Gutierrez has always had a passion for acting, and has appeared in several school stage plays, a local musical, and commercials. Kevin especially enjoys being a part of the big, happy family that comes with being a performer. He is very thankful that he has been giving the chance to play Griffin, and is learning so much from director Kelly Harms, his cast-mates and the Ruby Skye P.I. crew — but he’s especially thankful to the co-writers; creator Jill Golick and Julie Strassman-Cohn, whose positive reinforcement, and cheering on the cast has made this role a career highlight! In addition to acting, Kevin is very athletic: he plays soccer and hockey and enjoys many other sports. In his spare time Kevin practices magic tricks and plays video games — just like his character, Griffin.

Elena Gorgevska – Diana Noughton

Fourteen-year old Elena Gorgevska is already an award-winning actress, holding the 07-08 ACTCO Award for the Best Female Actress in a Drama. She was born in Macedonia, and began her acting career via her elementary school’s Destination Imagination program, followed by her debut role in a school production of To Kill A Mockingbird as the lead role, Scout. Elena continues to study acting at the Act One School of Drama in Pickering, and has appeared in several short films, a Made-for-TV movie, and a lead in a feature film. Elena played the principle role in Jean Stawarz’s short film, The Hunters, which won the Best International Film Award at the 2009 Ireland International Film Festival. Elena is very excited to be a part of the Ruby Skye P.I. cast and enjoys working with such a wide array of talented people!

Ali Adatia – Vinnie

You may recognize Ali from his work in commercials, independent films, theatre and television. He has appeared in Forbidden Science, CTV’s Flashpoint, ET Canada, and co-stars in the APTN science-fiction pilot, The Time Traveler. In 2008, Ali won the ACTCO Festival Thea Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of famed Hollywood producer David O. Selznick in the Markham Theatre’s production of Moonlight and Magnolias.

Ryan Egan – Flint Shearson

Originally from Kamloops, British Columbia, Ryan is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City and received his B.F.A. in Theatre from the University of British Columbia. He has appeared on Saturday Night Live, Men In Trees, CTV’s Cold Squad and the Bollywood film Neal N’ Niki. He will soon be seen as Hell’s Angel Kenny Wagner in the upcoming 4th season of BIKERS. He has appeared in theatres and comedy clubs across Canada and the US. Some of his favourite roles include Erik Erikson (Carnage), Mitch (A Streetcar Named Desire), Figaro (Marriage of Figaro), Louis (Angels In America), Ali Hakim (Oklahoma), Mr. Hardwick in the Canadian Premiere of Debbie Does Dallas; The Musical, and as the singing , dancing, sword wielding Bandit in the World Premiere, Rock Opera, The Dreamers Quest. He would be nothing without the love, support, and patience of his parents and of course Vodka and Soda…his cats.

Nawa Nicole Simon – Ms. Springer

Toronto-born multi-talent Nawa began her passion for performing and creative community participation as a teen participant in the local Fresh Arts program. She is a graduate of Humber College’s Theatre Performance Program, and after appearing in her graduating class-production at Summerworks, graced Hart House in the title role of Eric Rose’s production of Angelique. Her stage roles include Osa in Little Red Theatre’s production of Darkness and the Butterfly, Darci in Expect Theatre’s tour of Survival U, Mixed Company Theatre’s Showdown and How can you Tell?, and Mad Science Productions’ Mad Mission To Mars, Factory Theatre’s Once A Flame with C Theatre Works, and has performed with the cast of UMOJA – The Spirit of Togetherness – for their closing night performance, in March 2008.

Nawa’s film & television work includes The Stilwell Project (Bottle Cap Productions Inc), We Ate the Children Last (Film Forge Production Inc), Nursing Communication Project (Look Ma Media Inc.) Body Language (Nu Picture Inc.), Forensic Factor (Discovery Channel), Passion (Pug Enterprises Inc.), and Vente (Tall Drink Productions). Ruby Skye P.I. (Jill Golick Enterprises Ltd.) is Nawa’s first performance in a web series.

Nawa is also an accomplished dancer and became a choreographer too via her involvement with Afro Caribbean Dance Group. She danced with Groupe des Arts Bassan at the Francophonix Festival at Harbourfront Centre, The Mississauga International Children’s Festival, La Nouvelle Scene in Ottawa and toured extensively through out the Greater Toronto Area. She has also danced at Oshawa Fiesta Week, Sofi Fran in Welland, theInternational Fracophonie in Quebec City, and The Toronto African Dance Festival (2008).

Kirklynne Garrett – Mrs. Gooje

Kirklynne Garrett is a Toronto-based actor who has worked in theatre, film and television. Her stage roles include Paulina in Death and the Maiden, Mary in The Memory of Water, Jessica in If We Are Women, Mrs. Kendal in The Elephant Man; Gwendolen in The Importance of Being Earnest; Cynthia in The Real Inspector Hound and Thelma in After Magritte. She’s appeared in films as the Bag Lady in Good Morning Tomorrow, and Sister Bea in Only the Devil Speaks Cree. Talking with animals and inanimate objects comes naturally to Kirklynne so stepping into Mrs. Gooje’s world for Ruby Skye P.I. has been a joy.

Raj Verma – Gary

Raj Verma’s passion for acting started at a very young age through school musicals, plays and developing comedic sketches for variety shows. He left the industry to pursue a career and education in Engineering but after losing almost 100lbs, he has come back to his passion. While being fortunate to be part of commercials, shorts and feature films, he developed a fondness for film creation as well. Earlier in 2010 he wrote, co-produced and co-directed a short film that was very dear to him called Janus which won an honorable mention in the LA International Film Festival. Being part of the Ruby Skye P.I. production, however, has been the “icing on the cake” so far. The production family in its entirety is unmatched and he feels lucky to be part of such an amazing concept and with such a great group of people. He can’t wait until his 2 year old daughter, Maya, will be old enough to enjoy Ruby Skye!

Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll – Griffin’s Father

Toronto-born Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll trained at the Humber College School of Creative and Performing Arts and has been performing in plays, sketch shows, films and on television since 2005. He appeared in Royal Canadian Air Farce’s Penelope Corrin’s 2009 Toronto production of Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical (Ghost Light Projects), for which he enjoyed high praise from NOW Magazine’s Jordan Bimm as an actor who “consistently nails the required comic register…” for his alternating roles as Greenfelt, Senor Bradley, Nick and Kevin. He has also played the Hollywood Fringe Festival as the Perez-Hilton-inspired ‘Calvin’ in Back to You: A Dear John Mayer Letter; Madtheatrics reviewer Andrew Moore said Rodigo “stole the show” – complimenting his comic timing and his ability to infuse the role with humanity.

Pui-Ling Tam – Constable Officer

Pui-Ling Tam works professionally both as a performer and behind the scenes in theatre, film, television and media. She is a graduate of the Theatre program at the University of Ottawa. As an actor, she just completed filming on Bird Bath and Smokehouse. Her favourite theatre credits include The Rez Sister’s (POCO Productions) and Summer of the Aliens (Great Canadian Theatre Company). Pui-Ling is also a Fight Instructor with the Academy of Dramatic Combat and has numerous credits in fight direction and stunts. She coordinated the stunts for the television series Breakout, which recently premiered on The Discovery Channel. Though primarily an actor, she loves seeing the reactions on the faces of the film crew and cast after a successful car crash.

Sarah Higgins – Library Woman

Sarah Higgins recently finished a run of the Mirvish production The Sound of Music, understudying the role of Liesl. Earlier this summer, she starred in her first short film, The Reception, a short thriller produced by Radke Film Group’s FamilyStyle. Sarah graduated from The Randolph Academy as the recipient of the Triple Threat Achiever Award. In 2004-2006, Sarah studied Voice Performance at the University of Calgary. She also received High Honours in RAD Advanced II Ballet, and Distinction in RCM Grade 9 Voice. Her performance credits include Eve in The Apple Tree (Bathurst Street Theatre), Ensemble in The Wizard of Oz (The Citadel Theatre), Sissy in Unity1918 (The Annex Theatre), Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (Fallen Rock Productions), Louise in Gypsy (Judy Russell Productions), Wendy in Peter Pan (Judy Russell Productions), and Clara in The Nutcracker (Enchainment Productions).

Laska Sawade – Shop Keeper

Laska is a Canadian song writer and actress, born in Toronto and raised in the country just outside of Peterborough, Ontario. Growing up, Laska was exposed to and inspired by music from a young age. She attended Sheridan College for Musical Theatre Performance and graduated with honors in 2004.

This past year she has been playing her songs in Music venues across the Toronto circuit, and has been a featured performer in popular venues like Clintons, The Cameron House and Theatre Passe Muraille. Laska is currently working towards a CD release.
